Oroblu is a very intriguing brand, those of us “in the know” are aware that they produce top quality hosiery up with the very best and at comparatively reasonable prices. Despite recent innovations they have somehow failed to build the reputation they deserve.
So having given the brand a big build up what are these stocking like?
First impressions... well the stocking itself is smooth and soft and the glossy elastic top looks as though it should be highly effective. The silicone is ultra tacky, so much so that we struggled to separate it. Stretching the stocking over a hand there was noticeable resistance at the ankle that bodes well both for fit and comfort.
The leg is finished with a lightly reinforced toe, the sole of the foot is more heavily reinforced and this heavier weight runs around the heel into a pyramid heel detail and back seam. The seam is knitted in but is the closest we have seen to a genuine 3-thread seam on a hold up.
There are three sizes to choose from, defined in terms of height and weight. Not our favourite way of defining stocking sizes but based on our size III (Large) test pair we must say the sizing is accurate. There is enough length and stretch to have the top of the stocking 32” (81cm) from the feel, which is about right for a leggy 5’11”. The twin silicone bands do a great job of holding the stockings in place.
Fit and finish are excellent; skin tight with perfect even colour. As sheer stockings they are excellent, as seamed pyramid heel stockings they are sublime. The heel site correctly on even the longest of feet and the seam ran arrow straight first tie... and stayed put!
Our test pair came in mocha (chocolate brown), a great colour for seams, all of the slimming effect without any of the connotations of black seamed stockings.
Oroblu at their best.
